WEWELSBURG / CRITICAL RECONSTRUCTION LAB

Methodology

Evidence classes and geometric authority.

ClassMeaning
A_DOCUMENTEDDirect documentary or plan evidence.
B_CORROBORATEDSupported by more than one independent historical constraint.
C_PHOTO_CONSTRAINEDGeometry constrained by photographs/model imagery but not fully measured.
D_TYPOLOGICALHistorically plausible typological completion.
E_SPECULATIVEExplicit hypothesis; disabled by default.

The DGM lineage is Geobasis NRW DGM1 in EPSG:25832. The project uses a rigid plan→UTM transform with θ −67.501905459681°, E0 475837.94729828, N0 5717404.89147737 and scale 1.0. Row 0 of the raster is north and sampling uses the 5 m cell-centre convention.

OSM residuals are not forced to zero; the historical plan geometry is not warped to improve apparent fit. Historical North/East/West tower anchors remain fixed.

DOES NOT PROVE: a reconstructed feature was executed exactly as modelled, that planning documents formed one immutable masterplan, or that topographic fit resolves historical intent.
